A guide to the essentials of Player versus Player Combat in Iron to Empire

Overview

PvP in Iron to Empire is more in-depth than vanilla Minecraft. Firstly, when engaged in combat all commands are disabled. It’s you, your skills, and your wits (plus obviously any items you might have). No cheating, hacking or client modification for combat is permitted.

Notable Upgrades to Combat

Iron to Empire's vision is a "Vanilla Deluxe" experience to Minecraft :— the next age comes with pikes, cannons, flying machines, and more.

Cavalry Charges

When riding a horse, you deal extra damage based on your current speed. The faster you go, the harder you'll hit (and the harder you can get hit)! Deal up to 10 extra speed damage (maximum).

Horses are large powerful creatures, use your beast of war to knockback / trample players and mobs for extra damage. Again, the faster you go the harder they'll hit!

Siege Resistant Structures

Attacking and destroying other Kingdom's bases is a routine occurrence, and as such Kingdom Builders should design their structures with explosions in mind — including Cannons, and other types of new explosive devices. But some materials are more viable than others for withstanding powerful blasts.

Materials now have a structured order to blast resistance. As a general rule: Metals are superior to Stone. Stone is superior to wood. Wooden Logs are superior to planks. Netherite Blocks and Obsidian are the pinnacle of sturdy.

Material Tiers

Tier 5 — Legendary Fortifications

      Netherite Block
      Diamond Block
      Iron Block
      Anvil
      Iron Bars
      Iron Door
      Iron Trapdoor
      Spawner
      Smithing Table
      Obsidian

Important: Unlike vanilla Minecraft, Obsidian can eventually be destroyed through sustained siege damage. It remains one of the strongest materials available, but attackers who commit enough resources can break through.

Tier 4 — Fortress Stone

      Andesite & Polished Andesite
      Basalt & Polished Basalt
      Blackstone Family
      Polished Blackstone Family
      Chiseled Polished Blackstone
      Gilded Blackstone
      Chiseled Deepslate
      Deepslate Bricks
      Deepslate Tiles
Stone Bricks & Chiseled Stone Bricks
      Mossy Stone Bricks
      Granite & Polished Granite Variants
      End Stone Bricks
      Nether Bricks
      Chiseled Nether Bricks
      Red Nether Bricks
      Blast Furnace
      Concrete Blocks

Tier 3 — Reinforced Construction

      Stone
      Deepslate
      Cobbled Deepslate
      Cobblestone
      Mossy Cobblestone
      Diorite & Polished Diorite
      Tuff

      Copper Blocks & Weathered Variants
      Bricks
      Lodestone
      Pistons & Sticky Pistons
      Smokers
Most Oak, Acacia, and Dark Oak Building Materials
Logs and Woods of Oak, Acacia, and Dark Oak

Several damaged-looking materials such as cracked bricks may appear strong but are actually weaker than their pristine counterparts. Cosmetic deterioration often comes with a defensive tradeoff.

Tier 2 — Standard Construction

      Birch Logs & Wood
      Spruce Logs & Wood
      Cherry Logs & Wood
      Jungle Logs & Wood
      Mangrove Logs & Wood
      Warped & Crimson Stem Variants
      Quartz Blocks & Quartz Variants
      Sandstone & Red Sandstone Families
      Packed Mud & Mud Bricks
      Terracotta & Glazed Terracotta
      Purpur Blocks
      Calcite
      Gold Blocks
      Sculk Materials
      Packed Ice

Tier 1 — Light Construction

      Most Wooden Planks
      Wooden Doors
      Wooden Trapdoors
      Wooden Fences
      Wooden Gates
      Signs and Decorative Wood Components
Dirt, Sand, Gravel, Clay, and Similar Soft Materials
Most Decorative Blocks Not Listed Above

Logs generally outperform planks. While both are wooden materials, the dense natural structure of logs provides noticeably better protection against explosions than processed lumber.

Building Suggestions

      Layer blocks for strength.
Mixing material tiers can force attackers to expend additional explosives.
Critical Kingdom infrastructure should use the highest Tier material possible.
Do not assume vanilla blast resistance applies. Many materials have been rebalanced for siege gameplay.
Obsidian is powerful, but it is not invincible.
Polished, chiseled, brick, and reinforced variants are often stronger than their raw forms.

Cannons

Cannons are the most powerful explosive in Iron to Empire. Use them to blast through even strong blast resistant defenses, although they leave smaller easier to repair gaps than TNT.

Airships & Boats

Sailable boats that are larger and faster than vanilla minecraft, with the capacity to hold cannons and multiple player passengers. As well as airships with most of the same capabilities as boats that can fly over almost any terrain.

Legendary Items & Weapon Variety

Two-Handed Swords, Warhammers, and items that break the vanilla enchanting barriers are findable throughout the mythical world of Nyra. Legendary enchantment limit breaking items are NOT craftable (they must be found), but the new weapons (e.g. Warhammers, Lances, etc.) are.
